WASHINGTON D.C. | January 21, 2020 – Common Threads, a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting health and wellness to children, families and communities through cooking and nutrition education, continues to celebrate its 15th Anniversary in Washington D.C. on February 5. The second Chef Takeover event will be a one-night-only ticketed evening in the nation’s capitol and inaugural event of the new Sazerac House (507 C St. NE Washington DC 20002) from 7 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.

Each event in the Chef Takeover series features a group of renowned chefs collaborating to create a locally-focused cuisine. The Washington D.C. event will be a dine-around reception featuring chefs Chef Rock Harper (RockSolid Creative Food Group), Chef Kevin Tien (Emilie’s), Chef Huda Mu’min (Chef Huda’s Kitchen), Chef Pedro Lopez (Pisco y Nazca), Chef Mario Raymond (Washington Court Hotel) and Chef Dawn Alston (Ravy Cakes).

“We are delighted to celebrate our 15th anniversary through our Chef Takeover event series,” said Linda Novick O’Keefe, Common Threads’ co-founder and chief executive officer. “These events are a great way to reconnect with the community leaders, chefs and educators who have helped us accomplish our mission of promoting health and wellness, while also meeting new friends who will support our future work.”

Common Threads’ 15th Anniversary Chef Takeover Series began in late 2019 in Austin, and continues to Chicago on March 16, 2020 and Los Angeles on April 2, 2020. All funds raised will benefit Common Threads’ cooking and nutrition education programs and will help the organization deepen its impact within each local market. For additional information and to purchase tickets, please visit commonthreads.org/events. General admission tickets for the Washington D.C. event cost $100 per person.
